Mancala is a mini-game similar to Kalah played in the Book Room, the top story of the Coffee Shop. It is Captain Rockhopper's favorite game to play while he is docked in Club Penguin. The game was released in August 2005.

Club Penguin is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) designed for children and teenagers 6 to 14 (but it's open for all ages) that was developed by New Horizon Interactive. Using cartoon penguin avatars, players can chat, play mini games, and participate in other activities with one another in a snow-covered virtual world.

Many penguins find Mancala difficult, as without first reading the rules displayed on the wall, it can be hard to understand.

Mancala was also available on the RocketSnail Games website, which was created by a moderator of Club Penguin. It was closed down due to a lack of funding, though the game is still available. Mancala Snails is a game that is the same as Mancala, except, instead of moving stones, you move snails. When the snails jump in the jar, a rocket will come out of their back (hence the name Rocketsnail Games).

Trivia

Mancala Postcard

Mancala postcard

  • Mancala was at the Town (the main area in Club Penguin) during the first beta testing day, and was moved to the Book Room after two days.
  • A third penguin can join the game, but can only watch.
  • There are several cartoons with penguins playing mancala. In one of them a penguin is confusing Mancala with Chess.
  • The Mancala postcard is a card in Club Penguin that can be sent to other players. It costs 10 coins. The card features a light blue penguin, a blue penguin, and an orange penguin, all playing Mancala.
  • During the Penguin Games, a Mancala tournament between the Red and Blue teams was held in the Book Room.

From a Club Penguin Cartoon

Red Penguin: "Checkmate!!"
Blue Penguin: "You don't even know how to play Mancala, do you?"
Red Penguin: "Manwhatta?"
