Continuing On

The assemblage

Continuing On is an assemblage consisting of a mancala board, and encaustic medium, 22 ct gold leaf and an Asian textile stamp, which was created by the US American artist Katie Dell Kaufman in 2010-2011. It measures 7” x 4” x 17”.

Kaufman has had many solo exhibitions in the United States (mostly in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.), but has also exhibited in Lithuania, the UK and South Africa. The artist, a native of Washington DC, is an award-winning encaustic, collage and assemblage artist and was a member of the drawing and painting department adjunct faculty at the Corcoran College of Art and Design for 21 years.

"The work (...) was about my father who had recently passed away and with whom I had played a multitude of strategy games."

Katie Dell Kaufman (2012)
